WIPA Communications Manager

Date: 14-May-09
Author: Roger Hudson - President

WIPA is looking for a self-motivated person with an interest in the web to work part time for the organisation.

This is a paid position to help improve communication with members and help organise events. We can't offer a lot of money, but the work should be interesting and you should get to know a lot of people in the industry.

Duties:

  • Prepare a fortnightly email newsletter: This will involve collecting news items and job advertisements, hassling members of the committee for content and writing/assembly anything else that you think might interest WIPA members.
  • Keep the website up to date: This will involve making sure news items and event announcements on the site are kept up to date. It would also be good if you could help increase the number of resources on the site that members might find useful.
  • Event assistance: Time permitting, you may be asked to assist with arranging speakers for events and the organising of venues and travel arrangements.

Pay: $400 per month

This job requires an effective understanding of the web and the issues that affect people working within the web industry, as well as superior written and verbal communication skills. Since you will be largely working on your own, good independent organisational skills are also important.

If you are interested and would like to apply or get more information please contact me via reply email or the WIPA Public Officer, Peter Firminger, on correspondence@wipa.org.au .

Or, if it's not for you, but you know someone who is not a WIPA member who you think might be interested, please pass this email on to them.
